My Early Years
Born in the small town of Bethal, Mpumalanga, and schooled in Alberton, I developed a foundation in financial services that began with studying Accounting and Financial Management at RAU (now University of Johannesburg).
My professional background spans both finance and insurance, with a strong foundation in accounting, strategic planning, and business leadership. My corporate career, which started in 1995, includes significant tenures with financial powerhouses like Nedcor and Alexander Forbes, where I headed the short-term insurance division's financial team for five years
From Angola to Cape Town
In general, my professional path has been shaped by both triumphs and challenges. A two-year stint working in Luanda, Angola challenged me and substantially widened my worldview. Unfortunately, that job ended when the 2008 financial crisis hit, leading to six challenging years that ultimately brought me to Cape Town in 2012. There, I found two life-changing blessings: my wife Angela and our sons Nicholas and Jordan.
They say that fear is the greatest motivator, and the fear of not being able to provide for my beautiful young family drove me to put all of my energy into a completely new career: Insurance.

What sets my approach apart is personal accountability. It is an understanding that behind every policy is a person with unique needs and circumstances. Unlike some other insurers, I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all advice or quick policy pushes. I take the time to understand each client’s risk landscape, then provide practical, honest guidance and proactive service that continues well beyond the initial policy setup.
Beyond Business
The pandemic reinforced my belief in maintaining a healthy work-life balance. An avid runner and gym enthusiast, I value physical fitness as a cornerstone of mental wellbeing. While I cherish family time, I also appreciate solitude. When the weekend rolls around, you’ll find me in the braai room, cold beer in hand, cheering on the Lions rugby team.

My firm's logo features the image of a lion. I chose the lion due to its symbolic importance in my life, which manifests in several ways.
Firstly, my Zodiac sign is Leo, and as you have seen above, I support the Lions rugby team. What I have not mentioned yet is the fact that it was a major dream of mine during my school days to play rugby for the old Transvaal under-age teams.
Secondly, the symbology of the lion is deeply meaningful for me in my personal and professional life. Lions symbolise strength, and I always want to embody strength, whether it is physically or mentally. Lions are also brave and never surrender. In my life, I have experienced being at the top and at the bottom, and it has taught me to never give up the fight to get back on top.
Lions famously maintain close ties with one another within their prides. In our lives, maintaining closeness within our families requires strong communication. Consequently, I believe that strong communication is the foundation of any long and fruitful relationship both in business and in our personal lives.
Finally, while lions always exist within a pride, the lion is famous for his ability to stand alone and in fact to be alone. This is something I can relate to in that as much as my family, friends and clients are my pride, I still enjoy and value solitude.
